I’m a serial entrepreneur, investor, and lifelong learner from New York that loves the process of creating. Whether that’s starting businesses, consulting, building a house (yep, did that once) or coding (currently learning Vue) – I enjoy understanding how things work and why they work that way.
I graduated in 2005 with degrees in Business Management & Marketing. As a teenager, I had dreamed of one day playing the PGA Tour, so after college, I turned professional and began competing to pursue that dream. I traveled all over the country competing and making friends with some of the most talented people in the game. The highlight of my twenties was competing in the Nationwide Tours Henrico Open.
In 2009 I launched a digital marketing agency called AO Studios. We created a division called Golf Web Design, which focused on digital solutions in golf and set the benchmark for how the industry now markets in the digital space with clients such as V1 Sports & PGA Magazine. That business evolved into a software consulting and development shop that focused on app development for small businesses and startups.
For 8 years, I authored a monthly article for PGA Magazine, titled Digital Business, which educated and exposed business owners to ways in which they could better reach their audiences digitally. I also hosted the podcast, The Big Golf Show, which explored similar topics – I interviewed people such as Gary Vaynerchuk, Bob Ford, Bobby Clampett, and Chip Beck. I am currently still a member of the PGA of America.
In 2014, I launched HIBR, an online direct-to-consumer pillow company on Kickstarter. We raised over 2x our initial goal and used that money to launch our mattress line. We successfully completed an Angel Round in 2016 and we added Rich Froning as an investor in 2018. The pillows and mattresses were quickly adopted in the athletic space. We had athletes from the MLB, NFL, PGA Tour, and CrossFit.
In 2019 I sold my digital marketing & development shop, and am currently consulting along with managing my wife’s YouTube channel. She is one of the nation’s top canine behavior consultants and we wanted to develop a community around her expertise in order to help further enhance the human/dog relationship.
My philanthropy ambitions lead me to serve as Board Chairman for the American Pit Bull Foundation for 4 years. Their flagship program is Operation Sidekick which trains rescued pit bulls as service dogs for Veterans suffering from PTSD.
I also love CrossFit and coffee.
